Binge Eating Disorder
This disorder is often referred to as COMPULSIVE OVEREATING, and it is typically characterized by a person eating a larger amount of food than would normally be eaten under the circumstances within at least a 2 hour period of time. Such compulsive eating is accompanied by feelings of physical discomfort and emotional distress. This behavior occurs at least 2 times per week for 6 months. There is no purging associated with Binge Eating Disorder.
Debra Dalton Stein, M.A., M.F.T. has been a licensed psychotherapist since 1988 and a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California since 1990. Debra has 15 years of professional experience treating eating disorders as well as her own personal recovery that helps her guide others through the recovery process. She is currently in private practice in Santa Barbara, California. In addition to working in private practice, Debra has worked in a variety of treatment settings including an out-patient psychiatric clinic, an adolescent residential facility and an in-patient psychiatric hospital for adolescents and adults.
